This is the story of two very different houses that taught me one very important message about abundance.
Let me start with the first one.
Years ago, when Dan and I lived in the Twin Cities, there was a family down the street who decided to add a second story to their modest one-level home.
It was a beautiful idea—to create more space for their growing family.
But before they could get a building permit, engineers came in to inspect the structure of the house.
What they found were cracks and weak spots in the foundation—stress points that wouldn’t support the expansion they envisioned.
Our neighbors were both disappointed and surprised. From the outside, it seemed like their home was solid, stable, and strong.
They had no idea the foundation underneath it was not.
At the time, I remember thinking what a powerful life lesson that was:
Before you expand—before you build more—you need to make sure the foundation can actually support it.
Because if the structure under your life can’t support what you’re building…
It will collapse under the pressure.
I never forgot that story.
Yet I didn’t really understand the importance of a foundation until we moved into our 160-year-old farmhouse.
Our house has two sections. The original section is pretty darn solid—built in 1865 with thick fieldstone and tamarack beams. Still holding strong.
But somewhere along the way, one of the owners added a long hallway and some back rooms onto the house.
And they built it all on a shallow cement slab. No footings. No depth. No strength. No real support.
For the past several years, that whole section has been sinking—as you can see in the picture.
Dan and I are at a decision point. In the next year or two, we’ll either have to tear it down—making our house even smaller—or rebuild it right, with a foundation that can actually hold it.
Both stories illustrate this truth:
You can’t build something that lasts on a weak foundation.
Nor can you expand on what you already have.
It’s not just true for houses.
It’s true for my life—and yours.
It’s true for your bank account.
Your business.
Your relationships.
Your dreams.
And yet, most of us have never taken the time to inspect our foundation.
If you did, you might discover—like I did 7 years ago—that you’re trying to create a life of abundance on a foundation of scarcity.
Not-enoughness. Pressure. Fear. Proving your worth.
That might have gotten you this far…
But it can’t support what you’re being called to now.
Even if things are “fine” on the outside…
Even if you’ve built something “good”…
You may be feeling the cracks underneath. The pressure. The stress. The weight of holding it all up.
Or you might just feel a quiet knowing that what got you here… won’t get you where you want to go.
That’s why I created the Foundation for Abundance program.
It’s not just for people in crisis.
It’s for people who know that even a good life—maybe especially a good life—needs a foundation that can hold the next level.
This 8-week experiential program is designed to help you uncover what’s really underneath your relationship with money, time, yourself, and your dreams—and give you a new, stronger structure to build the rest of your life upon.
Sound like it’s time for you to make sure you have the foundation you need for your life?

Whether your current foundation is cracked… incomplete… or simply too small for the vision you now hold—this program will give you the support—the foundation—you need.
Not with more striving.
But with more truth.
More clarity.
And more alignment with the abundance of resources already available to support you—and the tools to access them.
Because your dreams deserve a foundation strong enough to hold them.
You do too, my friend.
You deserve a foundation OF abundance, IN abundance, FOR abundance.
The next session starts in July. I hope you’ll join me.
