What If It’s Not About “Fixing” a Problem?

by | Jan 27, 2026 | Living Beyond The Abundance Trap™, The Invitation Scarcity Offers

What feels like a problem is actually an invitation… into healing, wholeness, and growth.

At first glance, that quote might feel counterintuitive — even confusing.

Most of us have been taught — explicitly or implicitly — that when something feels painful, stressful or lacking, it means something is wrong.

It’s a problem — and problems are meant to be solved or fixed.
Especially when the problem has to do with money.

If we don’t have enough money…
If money causes us pressure, stress, embarrassment or guilt…
If we’re worried about the future…

Our reflex is almost automatic.  Fix it. Solve it. Make it go away.

For many, that “fix” looks like some version of more:

  • making more money
  • working harder or longer
  • being more disciplined
  • learning more, achieving more, being more

If you can relate, please know that this reaction is NOT your fault.  There’s nothing wrong with you because you think and respond this way.

It’s what happens when the only model for money and abundance you have is what I call The Abundance TrapTM.  It’s the one that dominates the world we live in — with less-than-abundant results for so many.

A Different Way of Seeing Scarcity

My friend, I invite you to consider this possibility…

What if the presence of scarcity in your life (or bank account) doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong?

What if it’s not a problem… but an invitation and catalyst for your healing and growth?
And, in case you’re wondering…
This new way of thinking about scarcity isn’t about denying real needs.

If you don’t have enough money to pay your bills, that matters.
If money stress is impacting your health or relationships, that deserves care and attention.

Rather, the invitation here is subtler — and deeper.

Instead of immediately asking yourself…
“How do I fix this?”

What if you instead asked…
“What is this inviting me to learn?”
“What is this inviting me to practice?”
“What is the healing and growth this invites me to?”

What I’ve discovered from all the scarcity I’ve experienced in my life — including around money — is that it reveals things I might not have known.  Things I might have tried to avoid and/or hide.

Things like…

  • inaccurate – even subconscious – beliefs about myself and my worth
  • difficulty receiving support
  • patterns of over-giving or self-betrayal
  • ways I’ve measured my value and importance based on external results — like money, achievement or success in the eyes of the world.
  • money skills I never learned and/or didn’t practice.
  • money beliefs that sabotaged me.
  • money habits that didn’t support me and my well-being.

Seen this way, scarcity becomes information — not condemnation.
A mirror, not a verdict.

It’s a sacred mirror inviting us to grow, to heal.  To more fully be the unique human beings we were created to be — alive, whole and free.

And here’s the paradox…

The more I stopped treating scarcity as a problem to solve – as something I needed to fix or avoid…
The more available I was to recognize, receive and utilize the abundance of resources available to support me.

And the more abundance I experienced.
Not just financially — but emotionally, relationally and spiritually.

And so I again ask you…
What if the very thing you’ve been trying to fix or avoid isn’t a problem at all?
What’s the invitation it’s offering you?

If you’d like help seeing this invitation more clearly…

If scarcity is showing up in your life and you sense there’s an invitation within it — but you’re not quite sure what it is — I’d love to have “Three Cs” Conversations with you.

They’re designed to support clarity, connection and insight into what this moment may be inviting you into — without need to “fix” anything.

What’s a “Three Cs” Conversation?
